Hair Loss
Looking after what you’ve got

Everyone loses their hair at a rate of around 100-150 strands of hair each day. But don’t fear as it’s all part of the natural cycle of hair growth.

Hereditary hair loss, which is common in men, occurs when the growth cycle shortens. Each time a new strand of hair grows it is shorter, finer and lighter than before. Eventually the body does not replace the fallen hair and this is when receding hairlines and baldness appear.

Don’t just blame it on the parents
Hair loss is mainly genetic but regular use of specialist tonics and shampoos can increase growth rates by up to 22% and density by up to 24%. Look for products that contain the active ingredient Carnitine Tartrate which is designed to activate and energise the hair roots and scalp.

Bald truth
Hair loss can sometimes be temporary due to high levels of stress or in reaction to prescription drugs or hormonal changes. In these circumstances you should refer to a skin specialist or doctor.

Go easy
If you consider yourself high risk for hair loss then make sure you follow a structured care regime. Select the most appropriate shampoo for your hair type and use a conditioner to close the cuticle layer – protecting the hair shaft from damage. Dry your hair gently and avoid any kind of processes such as colour or perm which can further stress your hair.
